Port Adelaide has secured Glenelg’s Ella Boag as its fourth (31 overall) at the NAB AFLW Draft ahead of its first AFLW season.
A speedy winger, Boag has shown rapid improvement since being elevated to league level in early 2022.
She has demonstrated promising on-field traits, with her round 12 performance against North Adelaide earning her a SANFLW Breakthrough Player nomination.
Boag joins Hannah Ewings, Sarah Goodwin and Sachi Syme as Port Adelaide’s top four Draft picks ahead of the upcoming season.
Port Adelaide List Manager Naomi Maidment said:
Ella is a very athletic player who holds her space well in a contest, has good running capacity and was a standout on the wing for South Australia in the under-18 national championships this year. She’s a year 12 Immanuel College student and is in her first year playing seniors at Glenelg. She has really developed quickly in the past 12 months to become a top draft pick prospect.
AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan said:
Winger with a blistering burst of speed making her capable of breaking the lines. Has the ability to kick goals on the run and featured prominently as an important member of South Australia’s unbeaten team in the championships averaging 11.3 disposals and kicking two goals. Played seven games at senior level for Glenelg this season and has exciting AFLW traits.
