THE AFL has announced that Port Adelaide captain Erin Phillips will join the AFLW Competition Committee.

The committee meets regularly to ensure the overall progression of AFLW, with Phillips and fellow new member, St Kilda’s Hannah Priest, to be involved in their first meeting on Thursday.

Phillips joins the committee having played 56 games between Port Adelaide and Adelaide, and kicking 50 goals in her career.

As a three-time All-Australian and triple Premiership player, Phillips has a wealth of knowledge and elite sport experience to offer to the group.

AFL general manager of women's football Nicole Livingstone warmly welcomed the AFLW stalwart to the committee.

"It's great to have Hannah and Erin join the AFLW Competition Committee and we look forward to gaining their invaluable perspective as we head towards the 2023 NAB AFLW Season and beyond,” Livingstone said.

"Erin joins the committee as the most decorated player in AFLW history – she has three Premierships, two league best and fairest, two grand final best on ground medals, and three All-Australian selections.

"She's a leader on and off the field – Erin is the captain of her club and is a development coach with the Port Adelaide men's side through the Women's Coach Acceleration Program. We are delighted that Erin will help shape the future of the AFLW through the competition committee.”
