There were a number of good performances last Friday and Saturday as Port Adelaide's development team saw a number of key players put their hand up for AFL consideration at the weekend.

Daniel Healy saw Port Adelaide go down to Central District at Alberton before travelling to Prospect to see the Roosters consign the Eagles to another defeat.

Matthew Nicks saw a great performance from player of the week Tom Logan in a losing Bays side against South whilst Tyson Edwards saw West down Sturt at Unley.

Tom Logan (for Tigers v Panthers)
Glenelg named Tommy their best player back at their social club after the game after having a fantastic first quarter with 8 possessions and kicking 1.1. He finished with 1.2 but he was just really solid in defence with plenty of press up efforts as well as run out of the backline so a good effort from him - he was our best for the week.

Steven Salopek (for Tigers v Panthers)
Sal played on a wing, changing on-ball, had 21 possessions and really got involved with some good spread. A solid game from him, he’s starting to gain more and more confidence.

Cameron Hitchcock (for Tigers v Panthers)
Tough night for Hitchy - really struggled to get into the game. He worked hard, his GPS numbers would’ve been very high as he’s always been a hard runner, but he struggled to impose himself on the game. He fired up in the last quarter and got involved a little bit more but by then it was too late for Glenelg.

Cam O’Shea (for Panthers v Tigers)
Played for South, he played on Kirk, also on Kirkby - both of whom are power forwards in the League competition (they are big boys!) A reasonable effort, he probably started a little slowly then really got into the game. Got used to playing with his new teammates in what was his first game for South Adelaide. Overall not a bad effort from Cam and he’ll be better for the run.

Brett Ebert (for Port Adelaide v Bulldogs)
Played mainly forward in the first half and was put on-ball in the second a little bit. He’s struggling to find his way and have a massive impact on games. He had 13 possessions, kicked a behind and we really look forward to seeing more from Brett in the coming weeks.

Brendon Ah Chee (for Port Adelaide reserves v Bulldogs)
Played his best game for the year and continues to improve steadily each week. He had 21 possessions, 5 clearances, kicked a goal and is starting to look better and better in a Port Adelaide jumper every week which is really pleasing. We’re rapt with his progress and so are the Port Adelaide (SANFL) guys so we’ll just keep looking to build and hope he can push for senior selection soon.

Aaron Young (for Roosters v Eagles)
Backed up last week’s SANFL Player of the Week with another very solid performance - 23 possessions, 1 goal, 4 clearances, 6 tackles - he has really started to become more of the complete player we’re looking for. He’s getting more rebound 50s as well as inside 50s and just being involved in the game a lot more. So really pleasing from Aaron, he’s playing tough, loves the competitive stuff we’re after and he’ll push very hard for senior selection in the Power side.

Nathan Blee (for Roosters v Eagles)
Played at full back for North in a winning side. He got beaten on the lead a couple of times early in the game but ater that was very solid. Looks real controlled and composed when he gets the footy - only had 7 or 8 touches so that’s something we’ll look to build on. What he did do was very clean, neat and he’s looking like an accomplished SANFL League player so positive signs from him as well.

Andrew Moore (for Roosters reserves v Eagles)
Moorey was the best in the Roosters reserves playing midfield. He got 28 touches, 8 clearances and 6 inside fifties so a strong effort from him and pretty influential in a winning side which will hopefully see him stake a claim in the North League side.

Daniel Webb (for Bloods v Double Blues)
Played all forward and was West’s main target forward. He kicked 3 goals and had a few other chances to take some marks but with the wet weather couldn’t quite stick them. Overall he had quite a good game and was named in the best players for the Bloods.

Matthew Lobbe (for Bloods reserves v Double Blues)
Matty had his first game back which was fantastic. He got through the game and contributed really well for a first up game - so a good start for him. He started to move around quite well as the game went on, got a jump in the ruck, his jump-timing improved so basically a good re-entry into competitive football for him.

Ben Newton (for Bloods reserves v Double Blues)
Played on the ball and had a very good first half before he dropped out a bit in the second. His first half had 15 possessions and 4 clearances and he was involved in the game plenty.

Mitch Curnow (for Double Blues reserves v Bloods)
Mitch played in the same game - it wasn't one of Mitch's best games for Sturt so far - only got 5 touches and a handful of hit outs assisting their main ruckman. He's continually improving and has a couple of key areas to keep working on over the coming weeks.
